As I listened to the song by a band called Live titled The Damn at Otter Creek, I wondered what the song was about. Now whether or not the things you read are in fact 100% true, is another question. However there was one interpretation of the song that really stuck with me. The interpretation stated that the song was in regards to regret and the dangers of living in the past. There is a whole story that goes with this, but I am just looking at this one interpretation right now.
Sometimes we do get stuck in the past and let that pull us down. I myself have been there at one point or another in my life. This, however, was one of my late mother’s issues. She continued to live with the heartache from the loss of my brother. She tried to move on but could not. She let alcohol get the better part of her and eventually was what took her from us in the Spring of 2021. I am not truly sure how hard it was for the rest of the family, but I can tell you it was hard for me watching her pull herself down.
We just need to focus on the now and not dwell in the past. I have always had the moto of live today like it is you last. I may not fully live by that, but try.
